Milan Report 2011: Alfredo Häberli for Georg Jensen

Conceptual retail space 10 Corso Como was the setting for the launch of the ‘Peacock Pitcher’. The unusual stainless steel water carafe is the newest addition to Georg Jensen’s Masterpieces collection, and the result of the first collaboration between the company and Swiss-Argentinian designer Alfredo Häberli.

The pitcher was exhibited alongside the rest of the Masterpieces collection – iconic pieces of stainless steel and sterling silver tableware by designers such as Henning Koppel, Verner Panton, Todd Bracher and Søren Georg Jensen – at Galleria Carla Sozzani. Häberli shares the story behind the piece’s development and his belief that objects can make a fluid transition from kitchen to table in the video above.

I have been a fan of Alfredos’ work for many years now but am disappointed by his metal pitcher…….I happen to be collector of mid-century modern ceramic dishes mainly Russel Wright. Needless to say I am rather disappointed by what looks like a modern copy of the classic iroquois pitcher by Russel Wright…..
