In the Art World: 20 – 26 August

1. Camille Hannah:  Stutter Speed

2. Matt Coyle & Jack Rowland
Anna Pappas Gallery, 2 – 4 Carlton Street, Prahran Vic. 23 August to 29 September 2012. Opening Wednesday 22 August at 6pm.

3. Ildiko Kovacs: New Work
Martin Brown Contemporary, 15 Hampden Street, Paddington NSW. 23 August to 16 September 2012. Opening Thursday 23 August, 6pm – 8pm.
4. Eugène Atget: Old Paris
Art Gallery of New South Wales, Art Gallery Road, The Domain, Sydney NSW. 24 August to 4 November 2012.
On Saturday 25 August to coincide with this exhibition is the symposium Cities in transition: photography in Paris and Australia at the turn of the 20th century. The event explores early 20th-century documentary photography of Eugène Atget and assesses its relevance to an Australian context. For bookings visit here.

5.  Being Collected: Reflections on Queensland by artist Danie Mellor
Macleay Museum, University of Sydney, Gosper Lane (off Science Road), Camperdown NSW. Thursday 23 August 2012, 6pm – 8pm. Free, but bookings essential.
Danie Mellor, an award-winning Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artist and academic, will talk about the inspirations for his work and his research into Aboriginal cultural heritage in museum collections.

6. Kirra Jamison: Locomotor
Jan Murphy Gallery, 486 Brunswick Street, Fortitude Valley Qld. 28 August to 22 September 2012.

  1. Love the colors used in Camille Hannah’s work. Also, Kirra Jamison Zimmer’s pop of colors are right up my alley!!!
