Melbourne’s Nite Art Event Opens Citywide Tomorrow Night

CRound_Ulladulla,-NSW-(1)
After the astounding success of its first citywide all-night art event White Night, it seems Melbourne has fallen in love with the moonlit art crawl.

Opening tomorrow night across four precincts, 21 galleries and including 56 artists and several public art installations, Nite Art is a new lofty event in the city’s already rich zeitgeist, taking inspiration from international events like Berlin’s Gallery Weekend, Hong Kong’s Artwalk and Roppongi Art Night in Tokyo.

The brainchild of a group of creative professionals (including Deborah Stahle, founder of Artwalk Melbourne, Andrea Nixon of Nixon Counsel, Andrew Ashton of Work Art Life and Jason McQuoid, co-director of recently established photography gallery Edmund Pearce), Nite Art will use digital technology, dynamic art events and smartphone capabilities in the form of an event-specific app to unite a slew of art openings, art talks, art walks and even an art bar.linebreak

The four designated precincts are Guilford Lane (featuring galleries Utopian Slumps and Outré Gallery), Upper Bourke (boasting Sarah Scout, Neon Parc and Gallery Funaki), Flinders Lane (including Flinders Lane Gallery and Lesley Kehoe Galleries), and North Melbourne (Rubicon, Langford 120, Gallerysmith and more).

Nite Art runs from 6-11pm Wednesday 24 July across Melbourne’s CBD.
