Sydney InDesign 2013 Photo Diary

Sydney InDesign was the place to be last weekend, not only for industry insiders but for design lovers venturing out to seek inspiration (and maybe a party or two). Here’s a selection of the best images we snapped at the packed-out showrooms and events on Saturday.

InDesign’s annual three-day design event was held over five design precincts in Sydney. The 3000sqm Galleria exhibition hall at Sydney Technology Park in Eveleigh gave up-and-coming designers a chance to show off their wares, featured a smattering of installations by design students, and showcased new collections by already established brands such as Fanuli and Corporate Culture. Dessein Furniture by Michele Chow launched at the Galleria, and we sought out the sustainable Rubberwood furnishings (designed by local heavyweights Adam Goodrum, Justin Hutchinson and Jon Goulder) up close for the first time.

Venturing into the surrounding suburbs of Alexandria, Surry Hills and Chippendale, we visited dozens of retail spaces holding events to cap off three days of hard work – the busiest of which seemed to be a feast by Coco Republic, catered by Maurice Terzini of Bondi Icebergs. Cult Designed‘s relaunched showroom was a highlight: the revamped layout was a treat to explore, and an installation of textile-alternative flooring announced the brand’s collaboration with the Swedish company Bolon.
